The Homes, 01 – The Light Song: A homesick Annie (Chelsea Kane) finds hope when she meets the garage band next door.
John’s new series premiered on Lockerz.com last night and, Chelsea’s fake crying aside, I really really like it. It may be that I was an Army brat and I know what it’s like to be stuck in a new town missing all of your friends but it struck a chord.
I don’t know whether to be grateful or hateful that social networking didn’t exist when I was going through those times. On the one hand, how great would have been to be able to keep in touch so easily? To actually see the friends you’re missing? On the other, as Annie discovers here, it’s also a painful reminder of just how far away you are from those friends. Especially when you can literally see your friends living their lives without you. Maybe I prefer how I lived it… where I was free to believe my friends were just as miserable as I was!
Anyway, I’ve gotten sidetracked. The Homes. Check it out. Maybe it’ll speak to you like it did me. Or maybe you just won’t be able to get the catchy song at the end of the episode out of your head. And you’ll fall into a loop of watching and re-watching the episode so you can hear it. (Look, I’m not on my primary machine so I can’t buy it from iTunes yet.) Either way, what do you have to lose by giving it a shot?
PS: I love the way the song is shot. I don’t want to say too much but I think you’ll know what I mean when you see it.
PPS: My apologies if you follow me on Twitter or Tumblr and are seeing this twice. I felt it deserved the extra attention of posting across the board.
