Upfronts Week 2010
Remember the days when I obsessed over Upfronts Week? Yeah, so do I. I’m glad that’s over. Though I do miss how excited I’d get at the prospect of new shows and prospective new favorites. It feels strange not care at all about what’s being picked up and what’s not. Which is not to say I don’t see potential in the new stuff, just that I’m content to wait until the Fall (when final cast changes have been made and we get clips more representative of the final products) to really pay attention the slate of new TV. Until then I don’t have much else to say about what’s happening in New York this week.

No More Mr. Nice Spy!
Except maybe to express some happiness over Chuck’s renewal for one more season!! I have not been impressed with this season and, don’t hit me, would have been OK if it hadn’t been picked up. HOWEVER, I still have much love for the show and the characters and everyone who works so hard to make both possible. So I’m quite happy that it will be back again next Fall. (PS: Don’t get me wrong, I would have been incredibly sad to see the show go, I just wouldn’t have been as devastated to see it go this year as I would have either of the first two years.)

Oh and I am eager to check out Fox’s preview of The Good Guys tomorrow night at 8PM. Not only do I enjoy Bradley Whitford, I love Matt Nix (one of the creators) and want his new show to be just as successful (and great) as Burn Notice. Plus, it looks hilarious. And you know me, I can’t resist a good action-comedy. My schedule is going to be pretty dead within the next week or so and I’ll need a good summer show to liven things up. Here’s hoping this one fits the bill.

The End Approaches
Hard to believe this week marks the end of Lost. I’m going into these last episodes with an open mind and heart. I feel as though I’ve enjoyed this last season a lot more than most but still can’t deny it was a bit of a letdown after the last two seasons. I don’t know if that’s just the nature of the (last season) beast or if they truly could have done better. Either way, it’s a bit late to be playing back-seat showrunner now. I intend to just sit back and enjoy these final moments as they are presented. I’ll miss it. But I’ll miss all of our obsessive conversations over it even more.

To Blog Or Not To Blog
I’ve been an absentee blogger lately and I feel like I owe y’all some kind of status update. I have started and abandoned several such posts in the past few weeks but it’s hard to give a status update when you haven’t figured out what you’re doing. I still love TV and I’m very much interested in the industry as a whole. However, I’m currently lacking the passion (for any one show) that once drove me to blog. That need to talk to someone about and analyze what I’d just seen. And with the plethora of TV bloggers these days, I’m not sure my voice is a necessary addition to the cacophony of opinions. (Not asking for reassurances just honestly assessing what I feel I add to this tiny corner of the blogosphere.)

On the flip side, I do enjoy blogging and don’t want to give it up entirely. Perhaps I just need to ditch my self-imposed limitations and get back to blogging about everything I care about instead of just TV? I’m not sure that makes me as “attractive” to the PR folks but I kinda suck at pursuing that kind of stuff anyway (hello, been doing this 6 years and still NO connections with the major nets!) so no big loss, right? Right. Of course, it also makes me less attractive to you lovely people who were promised a TV-centric blog and could now be getting something else indeed. What to do, what to do.

Anyway, there’s an abbreviated status update. Lucky you, missing out on most of the navel-gazing rampant in those unpublished posts! Oh and, while I may still be unsure about what’s going on with this blog, I am headed to Comic-Con in July. In large part because I don’t want to miss Feed’s Con debut but also because I enjoy hanging with friends in and around Con activities. If you’re gonna be there too be sure to let me know so we can try and coordinate some hang time!

I think you should blog about what you want to blog about. Don’t put limitations on yourself. It is ramblings, right? So ramble. You might stumble onto something.

Ramblings of a Straight Up Whore?

LOL. No, really. Blog about everything that is you. Like Led Zeppelin said, Ramble On :)
