Taking A Peek Down the RABBIT Hole

“Rising from the ashes of spunky original comedies like Flight of the Conchords, It’s Always Sunny…, and Pinky and the Brain is GOOD MORNING RABBIT, the next can’t-miss television comedy series. “

I adore It’s Always Sunny… but it’s the inclusion of Pinky and the Brain in the description that has me dying to see this rag-tag comedy pilot written and directed by Hadley Klein. The show’s about friends, Boxer and Mira, who are determined “to celebrate every one of our great nation’s real holidays.” Come one, who hasn’t occasionally wanted to celebrate National Sorry Charlie Day?

Kristina Apgar (Privileged, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles), who is also one of the pilot’s producers, is Mira and Alex Frost (Drillbit Taylor, Elepant) is Boxer. They are joined by supporting cast members newcomer David Craig, Summer Glau (Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Firefly), Lauren Benz Phillips (iCarly, Drake & Josh), Leven Rambin (Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, All My Children), Carter Jenkins (Aliens in the Attic, Surface), Brooke Stone (The Ugly Truth), and Ignacio Serrichio (Privileged, Ghost Whisperer).

Last weekend they headed out into the woods to begin shooting the pilot. All week long, Hadley updated his blog with pictures from the set and I fell in love with the look of the show. So pretty. Which is why I’m so excited to post a few photos that Hadley only shared with a few of us.

Check out these awesome GOOD MORNING RABBIT shots by Shari Simonsen:

I really hope they can sell this pilot or, at the very least, find a way to get it out there for us. Because I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.

I’ll check it out, though only because of Summer Glau. She has a pretty substantial fanbase. I don’t know why someone doesn’t build a show around her.

An inability to act worth a damn?

You clearly have not been paying enough attention. There’s a reason Summer Glau is popping up in more and more projects over time. Specifically, there’s a fascinating performance in the Terminator series. While one could dismiss it on a surface level as just playing a robot (“like that’s hard to do.”), it’s more nuanced than that. To go back even further, just look at the River Tam Sessions on the Serenity Collector’s Edition DVD.

Directors and casting agents are looking at her work carefully. They’re seeing what her fans are seeing. Though she is visually striking, she’s not just another pretty face. If she was simply a bad actress (or possibly even a so-so actress), her career would not have gone any further than that one episode of Angel, or her run on The 4400. She would have gone back to doing ballet (which she is amazing at, BTW) and would have faded off into obscurity.

Thankfully, that has not happened, and it should be easy to see why, so long as you know what to look for.
