It’s PSYCH’s Big Day!

It’s true. It’s finally here. The flowers have been bought, the cake has been made, and the church is just waiting for everyone to arrive… And, like a good friend, (State Farm is there) I have assembled a few essentials every bride needs on her special day.

Something Old
A reminder of our last glimpse of Shawn and Jules last season…

Maggie Lawson and James Roday in the season three finale of PSYCH on USA.

Juliet: Shawn, can you just not talk for a few seconds? Look, I just wanted to tell you that what you did today. I mean, I can’t imagine being able to function at that level while your Mom was, you know… I am, uh, clearly not as good with words as you are and, um, I know that things between us have been a little complicated. And that there have probably been some mixed signals, mostly from me, with regards to the time we spend together outside of the line of duty.
Shawn: Look, Jules…
Juliet: Please just let me finish stumbling through this, I’m almost done I promise. What I’m saying is that I think maybe the best things, the richest things, aren’t supposed to come easily. And that sometimes the moments that make the most sense happen when everything else doesn’t. And, well, I think you deserve more than popcorn tonight. So why don’t you let me take you to dinner?
Shawn: Detective O’Hara, are you asking me out on a date?
Juliet: I am. A proper one.
Shawn: Wow. I can not believe this… All this time and your timing is just awful.
Juliet: It is?
Shawn: Yeah, just dreadful.
Juliet: What?
Shawn: I can’t go to dinner with you, Jules, I’m already on a date.
Juliet: You are? What, here?
Shawn: Yeah, right now. It’s weird. It’s a little weird but, uh, yeah. With Abigail.
Juliet: The one that got away.
Shawn: Yeah.
Juliet: (kisses his cheek and wipes her lipstick off after) Get out there. She’s not going to wait forever. (walks away)
Shawn: Jules? I am so sorry… For snapping at you earlier.
Juliet: I know.

Something New
James Roday as Shawn Spencer, Dule Hill as Gus Guster on PSYCH. (c) USA Network Photo: Alan ZenukTonight will be my fourth viewing of the season four premiere. Apropos, no? Which kinda tells you I liked it. I don’t think it’s their best season opener but it’s a solid outing with plenty of laughs. And it does the one thing I think Psych is great at… making episodes I can watch over and over again without tiring of them. Cary Elwes, or Wesley as fellow The Princess Bride fans may know him, guest stars as an international art thief that Shawn and Gus stumble upon while vacationing in Vancouver. He does an awesome job even if we don’t get any real in-jokes about his previous work. (Though I swear there’s a Buttercup shout-out hidden in there. I’ll have to verify once I see the episode in HD and can pause it at the right spot.) Also, nice to have an episode in which the city where they film gets a chance to shine. Best thing about the episode? That it’s new! So happy to finally have the show back.

Something Borrowed
I’m sure isisgirl2 won’t mind us “borrowing” her Psych fan video set to “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins to help get us in the mood for tonight:

Something Blue
As if this one could be anything other than the Psychmobile. Ha.

The Psychmobile.

The Psychmobile.

The Psychmobile.

Psych. Season Four. Starts tonight. 10PM on USA.

Thanks for the recap–forgot how last season ended–it’s been way too long. Can’t wait.
