Did you know that Monday’s episode of Chuck will be in 3-D? And, for you Superbowl commercial fans, so will the Monsters vs Aliens trailer and SoBe Lifewater ad being run during the Superbowl this Sunday. (Look for that at the end of the second quarter.)
BUT! In order to get the full effect of these, you’ll need a pair of ColorCode 3-D glasses. Which is to say, an old pair of anaglyph 3-D glasses? Not gonna work. If you want to read why that is, check out 3-D Glasses Online for some helpful info.
Of course, Pepsico and Intel obviously want people to be able to see their ad in all of its glory so they’ve got SoBe Lifewater dispalys up where you can get your 3-D glasses, in sheets with 4 glasses per sheet (see pictures to the right for what to look for). Here’s a list of the participating retailers as found on the SoBe World site:
- Food Lion
- Fresh Brands
- Hy Vee
- Nash Finch
- Winn Dixie
- Dollar General
- Hess (Select Stores Only)
- CVS (Select stores only)
- Meijer (on 1/31)
- Target (on 1/31
I don’t know how comprehensive this list is… What I can tell you is that I checked two Winn Dixies in my area and neither had the displays. However, a popular Florida grocer, Publix, did and Dan, from Ducky Does TV, found his glasses in a store called Randalls in Houston, TX. So, if you’re looking for glasses, don’t necessarily limit yourself to the stores on this list. But, if you have some of these stores, you might check there first because my local K-Mart had them and I’ve heard from others that a K-Mart across town also had them.
There is a 1-800 number listed in NBC’s official press release about the event that you can try calling today. I don’t know if there’s time to have them sent to you at this point but Pepsi sent them via UPS to someone I know who called in. Can’t hurt to try, huh?
OR, if you have a Twitter account, you may try adding @SoBeWorld to your Twitter list and messaging Lee the Lizard to see if he can direct you to stores in your area that should have the displays. He’s been very helpful in trying to help connect people with stores that have displays in their area.
And, finally, I can’t help those of you in other areas but anyone in the Central Florida area can find a display at the Winter Park Publix (located in Winter Park Village) or the K-Mart in that same area off of 17/92. OR, you can go comment on Etan’s post in which he’s giving away 12 pairs of the glasses and one Monsters vs Aliens nerf football. If all else fails, I have a couple extra sheets of glasses. Comment and we’ll figure out a way to get you a pair.
All that being said… PLEASE, PLEASE check out the 3-D episode of Chuck this Monday, Feb 2nd, at 8PM on NBC. Check out the preview below:
PS: You can also check out TV By The Numbers as they’ve got a list of where you can get the glasses as well and a few of the commenters have chimed in with where they’ve found them.
PPS: Someone asked me about using the glasses they may have used to see My Bloody Valentine 3-D. The movie uses Real D Technology which uses polarized lenses rather than the different colored lenses (read more about it on the Cosmic Log). So, no, those won’t work for these TV spots.
