Supernatural’s “Yellow Fever” Laughs? Infectious.

Jensen Ackles brings the screams as Dean Winchester in SUPERNATURAL.Reactions to last night’s Supernatural seem to be split. Some loved it, some hated it. Very few fell somewhere in the middle. I’m no exception. I’ve got my tent all set up in the “LOVED IT!” camp.

A caveat, perhaps? I’m a huge fan of fear revealing episodes. I’m love Buffy’s “Fear, Itself” not just for the “actual size” joke at the end but also for the peek it gives us into the characters psyches. Or, maybe, the glimpse it gives them into their psyches. I think it was probably obvious to any true fan of the show what Dean fears most in the world. It’s not always so obvious that Dean knows that. These kind of episodes always force the characters to face their fears and I dig that.

Plus, Jensen Ackles cracks me up. Seriously, I think I laughed more at this episode than I did at any of my “comedies” this week. Whether it was because I hadn’t paid attention to the promos for this week or seen any sneak peeks or was more focused on the surprise we had coming, I went in with absolutely no expectations and I ended up loving what I got. What more could you ask for in an hour of TV?

Then, of course, there was the “Eye of the Tiger” lip-syncing. Hi-freaking-larious. I love that Jensen stays in character (scratching his arm) even though he had to know they weren’t going to use that take. Either that or the makeup they were using on his arm actually did itch. Anyway, if you missed it, you have to watch…

    Anita says:

LOVED IT!! It wasn’t just because Dean was acting scared either or just the Yorkie, but all the details. The book with ‘You’re going to DIE! AGAIN. LOSER!’ ‘Are you gonna cry?’ had me laughing hysterically.

I was just laughing at those when I was trying to get a good screen cap of that scene! So funny. I love that he’s basically bullying himself there.

Put me in the LOVED it camp! (Can I share your tent?) OMG! I laughed SO hard! Jensen was fantastic, but I also found Jared’s subtle reactions to Jensen’s antics hilarious as well. And I second Anita’s comment – that book insulting Dean was cracking me up as well.

And I think the fact that I watched it and not Grey’s, should tell you how very much I’m loving SN this season. It’s been just one stellar ep. after the other.
