Sorry for the disappearing act. I’ve been busy with a deadline at work and it’s been hard enough to watch my shows this week much less blog about them. Here’re some of the random thoughts rattling around in my head at this point…
I love Chuck Bartowski.
I think that’s become my mantra this season. Chuck is by far my favorite show at the moment and I’ve loved every episode we’ve gotten so far this season. I attempted to do commenting on this week’s episode over at my 12 seconds TV channel but the lighting in my living room and my sound quality sucked so much I didn’t bother to share ‘em over here. You’re welcome to watch but I can sum it up with: Love Chuck. Mmmm’ Bop! I hereby declare that all future fight scenes must be choreographed to Prodigy. The music for this episode was awesome but knowing Sarah is class of 1998 makes me feel both old and unaccomplished in life. Thanks, show, for that. It’s a good thing I love you or I’d be miffed.
Win. Win. Win!
First, congratulations to Rick Stafford who won The Start Wife Weekend Getaway Tote! We ended up with 572 entries and, as much as I wish I could have given you all a prize, I only had one to giveaway. But much love to everyone who entered. I hope you’re all still watching and loving the show.
Second, CBS and Bertolli Oven Bake Meals are currently running a Taste of Stardom Sweepstakes. I mention it because the grand prize is a free trip to LA and a VIP set tour of your favorite Monday Night Comedy! Who doesn’t want to go visit with Sheldon and Penny on Big Bang Theory or Lily and Barney on How I Met Your Mother??? Plus they’ve got weekly prizes as well. The sweepstakes ends November 16th and you can enter weekly to increase your chances of winning.
Third, I collected a bunch of TV paraphernalia this summer and I’m looking to do some fall cleaning. So I put all the things I already own or am unlikely to use in a RTVW prize bag in the hopes that I can share the wealth a bit with all of you. That means our weekly contests will be back starting tomorrow! The picture above is a little teaser as to what’s in the prize bag but be sure to check back tomorrow for the first contest and more details on exactly what’s in the prize bag.
Best Friends & Frescorts
Two of my favorite shows this week were about family and friendships: Privileged and Pushing Daisies. I wish I had something deep to offer about Privileged but instead all I can say is that I thought this week’s episode was perhaps my favorite of the season so far, coming in a close second to the series premiere. Perhaps it was the absence of Megan’s sister and her bad acting but more likely it was because it was all about friendships and family and connections we have to others. If you’re not watching this little gem of a show, you should.
Friends were also the dish being served on Pushing Daisies. How much do I love the combination of friends and escorts into frescorts?! Lots! (Pay-A-Pal!!) And the idea of a hug machine?? It’d never replace the real thing but I’ve been craving hugs lately so I can relate to Ned giving in and pretending it was the same as hugging Chuck for a tiny moment. I also adored the image of a big comfy duvet in replace of “security blanket”… awww! Not to mention, “Selfishly I want to duvet you right this second.” Oh, show, I hate that your ratings have declined so drastically. You’re so pretty and quirky and downright adorable that I want to keep you around forever. I keep hoping Ned’s touch is enough to bring your likely ratings death but it doesn’t seem to be happening yet.
Hmm, ok, I should have talked about how this week’s Fringe was pretty great and not just because it finally gave me a reason to care about Olivia again. However, I can’t do that without really getting into the show and I don’t have time for that so I should wrap this up. Expect some thoughts about letting go of shows later in the day. In the meantime, hope everyone’s enjoying their Thursdays.
