Friday Fun: Name That Theme, Child of the ’80s Style

Friday Fun!Working with others on a theme song for a not-so-secret project (that you’ll hear more about very very soon), I have managed to get several of the older TV theme songs stuck in my head throughout the week. So we’re going back to a game we played earlier in the summer, Name That Theme, only this time I’m feeling nostalgic for my childhood so I only took lines from the themes of children’s shows that were on air sometime during the 80′s.

  1. Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high. Take a look, it’s in a book.
  2. Why do we always come here? I guess we’ll never know. It’s like a kind of torture to have to watch the show.
  3. It’s great to learn because knowledge is power!
  4. Dance your cares away, worries for another day, let the music play…
  5. Contact, is the answer, is the reason that everything happens.
  6. They’ve been the best friends ever since. He’s kept the secret of their existence.
  7. Ooh, they got originality, living with a split personality!
  8. Next time you’re feeling blue just let a smile begin…
  9. Deep below the ocean blue, dreams come true for me and you.
  10. But we’re The Misfits, our songs are better. We are The Misfits (The Misfits), and we’re gonna get her.
  11. D-d-danger, watch behind you! There’s a stranger out to find you. What to do?
  12. It’s love that makes her garden grow, with lots of pretty berries in a row.
  13. So join in the jubilee, the cats are great they’ll all agree.
  14. And if you feel like a song, tune in to us and sing right along.
  15. Get outta bed, there’ll be no more nappin’! (Wake up!) ‘Cause you’ve landed in a place where anything can happen.

Need a little extra help? Here’s the list of the shows that each belong to one of the lyrics above: Schoolhouse Rock, Strawberry Shortcake & Friends, Jem, The Littles, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Fraggle Rock, The Smurfs, Pee Wee’s Playhouse, The Muppet Show, The Snorks, Reading Rainbow, Duck Tales, Heathcliff, The Wuzzles, and 3-2-1 Contact

Both of you have your guesses right!

And of course we did, Jo! I watched more than that but not all of them had words in their theme songs and/or it was impossible not to get a lyric that didn’t include the title of the show. I think #6′s lyric is the only line in the theme song that doesn’t include the title characters of the show.
