- Welcome Back The WB: You only have to look as far as the TV DVDs on my shelf to see how much I adored The WB. That I still get embarassingly choked up when I watch those promotional videos they did every year? Yeah, well, that just proves I’m a sap on top of not being able to let go of my old TV lover. Luckily for all of us, The WB is back! Ok, so things have changed and it’s not online instead of a channel on my dial but you know what? I’m ok with that. Anything to have some old favorites back where I can enjoy them again and, quite frankly, I look forward to checking out the new online series they’re producing. The WB was always great at tuning into what newer audiences wanted and I’m hoping that’s exactly what they do with their new online network. So join me in welcoming them back into our vernacular! TheWB.com officially launches today at 11AM PST. Browse on by and catch a few of your favorite episodes of Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Everwood, Friends, Gilmore Girls, In Living Color, The O.C., One Tree Hill, Roswell, Smallville, and Veronica Mars. Plus look for several new original series debuting soon from creative talent including director/producer McG (Supernatural) and Josh Schwartz (Gossip Girl, Chuck, The O.C.), among many others.
- Check Out the Official Always Sunny Blog: Yeah, yeah, I love me some official show blogs so you shouldn’t be surprised to see this one here! Plus, this one is cracktastic. Not that Barney’s Blog isn’t great but where else are you going to get Dennis’ Erotic Memoirs? Although, I’m not quite sure I’m ready to read about those… However, you can also check out the answers to those questions you sent into the Always Sunny Mailbag and, um, get some advice from Dirty Frank. And if you, like me (dammit!), are not going to the Bloggers Set Visit that’s happening tomorrow you can get your sneak peek at what’s going on on behind the scenes with the Production Blog. No matter which part of the blog gets you most excited (also details I don’t need), there’s plenty there to satisfy the masses. Or Always Sunny fans. Whichever comes first.
- Make a September TV on DVD Shopping List: It’s kind of annoying that I could have been buying and enjoying TV DVDs all summer but instead I’m forced to pick and choose the ones I want most because of the sheer number of them all coming out in September and me not being made of money. I’m not sure I see the marketing logic in it. I suppose it sorta gets
people ramped up for the new season but I think all of the studios end up losing out since I can’t be the only one who can’t afford to be buying a dozen DVD sets every Tuesday morning. Instead I’m forced to priortize my list and even the shortened version is still way too long to be taken seriously. Of the DVDs listed here (my top picks, highest on the list bolded), I can’t imagine I’ll end up getting more than four at the most! Ridiculous. Studios, plan better. Thanks. My DVD list for Late August/September: Heroes S2 (8/26), Big Bang Theory S1 (9/2), Life S1 (9/2), The Office S4 (9/2), Supernatural S3 (9/2), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia S3 (9/9), Ugly Betty S2 (9/9), Chuck S1 (9/16), Pushing Daisies S1 (9/16), Samantha Who? S1 (9/23), Beauty & the Beast Complete Series (9/30)
