Friday Fun: Would You Work There?

Friday Fun!It’s Friday, I have the day off from my boring job, so I got to wondering about all the fake places of employment we’ve seen on our favorite TV shows, and if any of them would be good places to work or not. Whether it be a bar or restaurant, fortune 500 company, or just a store, almost every TV show has some sort of made-up business as one of the central locations. And if it’s good enough for our favorite TV characters to work there, would it be good enough for us?

So, join me in taking a break from your real job and spend some time looking for work in TV land! Since it’s Friday, we wanted to make sure there was some fun! in this work-related task, so we’ve added a bit of a challenge for you… Below is a list of 20 TV companies and/or businesses. All you have to do is tell us what show the company/business is from, and then tell us if you’d want to work there? For an imaginary year-end bonus, tell us which would be your preferred place of employment and what you’d like to do there. Have fun!

    13. “Melrose Place”

And I would work there, only if Amanda wasn’t my boss. ;)

    Caraleigh says:

    2. Lost
    3. Chuck – Yes, because Chuck works there : )
    4. Buffy – Yes, because then I could keep up on the latest apocali (and Spike works out in the back room)
    6. Ugly Betty? – Probably not. The show would have to be called Ugly Caraleigh if I did.
    8. 90210 – No, no more restaurant work for me.
    12. The Office – no
    15. Heroes – No, too evil and creepy. I’d like to help take it down, though.
    16. The Sarah Connor Chronicles – I only know about it from the Terminator movies.
    17. Angel – only when the gang worked there.
    19. My Name is Earl – Heck yeah, oh wait that’s more restaurant work. I’d be able to hang out with Crabman, Earl, Randy, Joy, Catalina and the rest of Camden County so that’d be okay.

    Rae says:

    1. Firefly, Yes!
    2. Lost, Uh, no… seems like a high stress place.
    3. Chuck, Totally!
    4. Buffy, Aww, yes.
    5. Alias, Hmmm… probably not. Sydney’s places of work tend to get blown up or hijacked, etc.
    6. Ugly Betty, No! Although I wouldn’t mind having a Daniel Meade around to look at…
    7. Charmed, Nah, I’d prefer P3.
    8. 90210, No
    9. Pushing Daisies, Yes!
    10. Party of Five, No but I’d eat there.
    11. Gilmore Girls, Umm, no but I’d send my kid there.
    12. The Office, I think I already work here…
    13. Melrose Place (HAHA, did you get this from your early morning viewing today??), Nope
    14. Reaper, No… too many weird things going on there. Although maybe I should re-think The Magic Box… employees there seem to die alot.
    15. Heroes, No because my curiousity would probably get me in trouble with HRG.
    16. Sarah Connor Chronicles, No no.
    17. Angel, Hell yeah. Which may be exactly what it’d be like there…
    18. Smallville, No thanks.
    19. My Name is Earl, Definitely not.
    20. Brothers & Sisters, Right now? I’d be worried about my career so I think not but I bet their company parties are fun!

Yay! I got stuck on D&D and doubt I would have come up with it if I hadn’t had Melrose Place in the back of my mind from your Twitter this morning. I only got Salinger’s because I was trying to place the last name with a show and then I remembered PoF and the restuarant.

I wanna work at the Psych offices… and, really, I’ll do anything. Just for the chance to watch Shawn and Gus’ antics up close. Plus, seems like it’d be a fun office.

#18 is not Smallville folks! If I’m not mistaken, it’s called The DAILY Planet in Super-world?

Eolivet – I would not want to work for Amanda either! She’s scary.

P-C – I didn’t watch SCC very regularly, so I won’t argue. But, I looked it up on Wikipedia, and that’s what they told me.

Cara – LOL. I can totally picture you at the Crabshack!

R – I should have known you’d want to work at a detective’s office! I was going to include Mars Investigations, but figured that was too easy.

    Laura says:

Great list, but I’d rather work with Sam (from The Loop) at TransAlliance Airways (I think that was the name). That place is hilarious.

    Polter-Cow says:

I know it’s the Daily Planet, but I didn’t know what else it could be! What’s the Planet?

And Melrose Place was maybe my first thought, if not my second. Which one had the Peach Pit?

As for Skynet…it’s not a company! Cyberdyne Industries is the company that creates Skynet. THE END. Wikipwned.

    Rae says:

Hmmm… ok, now The Planet is gonna drive me crazy. It sounds like I should know it! And, yeah, I kinda just assumed the Daily part. :p

    Rae says:

HAHAHA. Oh, no wonder I thought it sounded familiar. I was staring at my DVD shelf, right at The L Word second season box, wondering what the hell it could be!! Ha.

That’s sad, I should have known it was The L Word. I bow my head in shame.

    Rae says:

Jo – Damn, I should have said Mars Investigations! But, really, how the heck would I be any help to them? Maybe I could work in Cliff’s office instead. Then I’d have lots of communication with Logan. Hmmm….

  12. 12
    Just Jody says:

OK, clearly P-C is the winner for knowing the difference between Skynet and Cyberdyne!

And yes, #18 is The L Word.

R – I was a little surprised you didn’t know it at first, but I figured you were just thrown by the previous responses.

    7. Quake – no idea
    8. The Peach Pit – 90210, nope.
    9. The Pie Hole – Pushing Daisy and yes if only for the chance to gaze at Lee Pace…
    10. Salinger’s – Party of Five, nope.
    11. Miss Patty’s Dance Studio – Gilmore Girls, nope.
    12. Dunder Mifflin Paper Company – The Office, yes if I could tag team with Pam and Jim to torment Dwight…
    13. D&D Advertising – Melrose Place, would I need to wear my skirts that short?
    14. Work Bench – Reaper?
    15. Primatech Paper – Heroes, nope
    16. Skynet – no idea
    17. Wolfram & Hart – no idea
    18. The Planet – Smallville?
