PRESENTS AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW
AIRING JULY 17 ON MTV

Competing dance crews will each choreograph a Janet Jackson tribute
performance using hit songs from her catalogue as the soundtrack

(Burbank, CA – July 11, 2008) Inspired by last season’s popular Michael Jackson “Thriller” episode, Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew challenges this season’s dance crews to emulate the moves of another music and dance icon – the incomparable Janet Jackson on Thursday, July 17 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Using hit songs from Janet’s library such as “Control,” “Nasty,” “If,” “All Nite (Don’t Stop),” “I Get Lonely” and “Black Cat,” the remaining six crews will create an original routine based around her signature moves. In addition, a special group performance will incorporate all of the crews dancing to one of her biggest hits – “Rhythm Nation.” A video reel of Janet’s all-time best dance steps will be given to each crew to provide inspiration to craft a performance deserving enough for one of the greatest dancers of all time.

The season two premiere of Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew ranked as the #1 cable program on Thursday night (8-11pm) among P12 – 34 and averaged over 2.3 million viewers (P2+). Since then, the series has ranked or tied for #1 among Thursday’s cable programming among Persons and Females 18 – 34, 18 – 49 and 12 – 34, as well as among Female Teens.

Shot on location in Los Angeles, the dance crews of five to seven members battle it out on the stage floor for dance supremacy and a $100,000 cash prize. Every performance-themed episode gives insight into the crews’ emotion, spirit and inspiration as they step up to the challenge and showcase their innovative choreography and skills. Viewers from around the country choose their favorite crews via text messaging, and phone and online voting (http://dancecrew.mtv.com). The two bottom teams as determined by voting show their best moves for the judges with the hope of advancing to the next round. One crew is eliminated each week, ultimately revealing the nation’s best dance crew.
