Finding Sarah Marshall Online

A still from the TV show CRIME SCENE: SCENE OF THE CRIME from the movie FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL.While I’m passing along site recommendations, I want to make sure you’ve all seen the latest Forgetting Sarah Marshall websites. Ok, yes, I know this is movie talk but when a movie contains two of my favorite TV stars I think it qualifies as an acceptable TV blog topic.

Plus, one of the links is the site for Sarah’s hit TV show and totally worth checking out. Not only is it actually on but they’ve got some hilarious video clips from the show. Billy Baldwin’s David Caruso impression? Spot on.

So, here’s the list of Forgetting Sarah Marshall sites I’ve found so far… Enjoy!

  • I Love Hate Sarah Marshall: Peter’s blog in which you can see the exact moment he goes from loving Sarah Marshall to hating her.
  • Sarah Marshall Fan Club: Sarah’s biggest fan is only happy to keep you up on the latest Sarah Marshall news.
  • Aldous’ MySpace: Sarah’s new boyfriend’s band’s MySpace page.
  • Crime Scene: The website for Sarah’s hit TV show, Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime

ETA: Here’s one more, Matthew the Waiter’s Myspace. (Thanks to [info]chris1010 for that one!)

Between these internet campaign and all of the billboards I see around LA, it’s hard not to want this movie to come out.

The Crime Scene page is really good.

I’m glad you said that about the I Hate/Love blog, because I only read the first page of it and that’s all dull stuff about him hating her. I really wanted it to develop the character more and be a nice bonus to the eventual movie, and instead what I got was basically a lot of entries with as much depth as the one-line billboards.

Oakling, I still think the blog could be a little more… 3D? It doesn’t really do much to show us more of Peter’s character. It shows us pretty much what we already know from the movie synopsis. He loved her and then she dumped him and now he hates her. The videos actually do more for me than the written entries. I did, however, start at the beginning and work my way forward so it was kind of interesting to get a little background on his character in that way.

The things I liked most on his blog are his links. It’s actually the site for the fake TV show that is my favorite of the sites. Not only because the show is a parody of the crime investigation shows on the air right now but because that’s where they are really building out universe in which the movie exists for me and that’s what I’m looking for in viral/online campaigns.

The fake TV show site was my favorite too until I saw the post on about fans raising money to buy pro-Sarah Marshall billboards to counter Peter’s. LOL. It’s just such a spot-on spoof of fandom right down to the comments.

Spads, given how many anti-Sarah billboards are around LA, the movie may want to build that reality a bit more and post some of the pro-Sarah ones.
