A Disclaimer of Sorts…

Because it’s come up more than once… I do know that the 12 days of Christmas are actually December 25th through January 6th.

No. Really. I do.

I’m a Catholic… born and raised (and still even) which probably means nothing to you but, as such, Christmas traditions and understanding their meaning was a large part of my life as a kid. I’m actually surprised so many people don’t know when the 12 days of Christmas are… funny what we just take for granted that people know, eh?

Anyway. Point being… my 12 days of Christmas-TV Style is just for fun. I suppose I could have waited until the actual 12 days but I wanted to do something leading up to the holiday as I won’t be around as much right after. Plus, it gives me a way to get into the holiday spirit (blogwise) not to mention giving me something to post about daily during the winter hiatus.

I just hope everyone enjoys what’s been a lot of fun for me, even if you don’t celebrate Christmas!

Also, I have to thank my partner in crime, the Canadian Me, [info]cdn_tvaddict. She’s the best brainstorm buddy a girl could have and has helped me come up with and find pictures for each of the verses. Thanks, J, you’re the best!!!

Man, I feel dumb now. I didn’t know (or if I did, the knowledge is long gone) and assumed it was the 12 days leading up to Christmas. Oops. Guess that is what I get by not being religious at all. Thanks for enlightening me!

Don’t feel too dumb! I was born and raised Catholic, and I STILL didn’t know that the twelve days of Christmas were AFTER Christmas. I always thought it was the twelve days before. Oops.

You shouldn’t feel dumb at all! A lot of people didn’t/don’t know. Even, as you can see below, people who are religious don’t know. Of course, I am fascinated by history so that probably helps… I tend to seek out and remember the origins of things. (Yes, yes, I’m a nerd… ;)

Heh. Yes, I should have clarified that I wasn’t implying all Catholics should know either. I just tend to remember weird things from CCD and we really did have a lot of focus on Christmas stuff. I also grew up in Germany and because there was such a mix of traditions in our lives, we often discussed the origins of the different traditions.
