TV… oh how I loathe you.
TV… oh how I love you.
You know, my Fall TV schedule used to be fairly manageable. Until people shared pilots with me and now I’m all torn. TORN! I haven’t watched them all yet (books won out in the Holding Rae’s Interest competition this weekend) but so far I’ve really liked all of the pilots I’ve watched this past weekend. Damn you, networks, for giving me so many choices.
Some brief words about each…
Traveler – Ok, so this one isn’t even on the schedule and I’m already talking it up – you know I must like it. It’s listed as new next year and I’m unclear as to whether that means winter/spring or what but it’s FREAKING AWESOME. I will have to kill the person who gave it to me if it never gets picked up because I have to know where it’s going. This one gets two thumbs up from me but I have no idea when we’ll see it. Maybe sooner than later if any of ABC’s other shows tank early.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip – Now here’s one I wasn’t sure about. I’d heard mixed reviews. People either *loved* it or were so-so about it. You’ll have to put me in the loved column. I don’t have a problem with the actors that I saw in a few places – maybe because many of them are familiar to me and I actually like them all? Either way, I’m excited to see more of this show.
The Nine – This one is on my Fall TV schedule but it’s one of those “no other shows at this time so I’ll give it a try” shows. I wasn’t won over by the description when I first read it and none of the commercials I’ve seen were doing much for me either. So imagine my surprise when I actually really liked the pilot episode. Honestly, a lot of it may be Tim Daly who I love to pieces. I miss having him on my screen regularly and I love his character so far. I like how they set up the show although I don’t think they did as good a job on making us curious about what happened as they could have but they definitely did an excellent job in introducing everyone and making us care about them. I must say that, unlike Lost, I really can’t see how this one can go for more than one season but I’m sure they have something in mind. If you, like me, weren’t sure about this one, I think you should definitely give the pilot a chance. You may end up liking it after all.
More on the rest later this week. Don’t forget that Prison Break returns and Vanished starts tonight!
