Just for EWE!

Oh, Miss [info]schnappycat, remember how I promised to extend your birthday? Well, I only meant to extend it one day but I think it might be worth the wait! Check out your presents below…

First, what is a (birth)day without cake? Sadly, I couldn’t be there to make one for you but I will some day! For now, I’ve got a great chocolate cake recipe for you… now you just need to con a friend or your hubby into making it for you. *wink*

The-Perfect-Present.com Chocolate Buttermilk Cake Recipe

2 Cups Flour
  1. Preheat Oven to 300° F
  2. Use Crisco Shortening to Lightly Grease and Flour 9 in. x 13 in. Baking Dish

  3. Place all the ingredients on the left into a mixing bowl.
  4. Mix at medium or medium high speed until all
    ingredients are blended and smooth.

  5. Pour into Greased and Floured Baking Dish
  6. Bake for 1 Hour
  7. Test by sticking with knife. If it comes out
    clean, it’s done!

  8. Allow to cool.
2 Cups Sugar
¾ Cup Hershey’s Cocoa
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
2 Eggs (I use large eggs)
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Buttermilk
(Remember that
you can freeze buttermilk so you have it when you need it to make another cake.)
1 Cup Mazola Oil
1 ½ Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 Cup Boiling Water
Recommended White
Vanilla Icing
Obviously you can use whatever you like. But we have
found that the simplest icing works best on this cake.
¾ Bag of Powdered Confectioners Sugar
  1. Place the powdered sugar, softened butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Add a little milk.
  2. Mix at high speed until smooth and creamy. Add milk as required to get the right consistency.
¼ Pound Stick of Butter (Softened)
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Salt

But I can’t end it there…
Really. You must have some eyecandy to go with your other sweets:

Look, Laura, Lamb wants you to take a road trip with him!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday, m’dear. Sorry your presents were late! Blame UPS or FEDEX. *g*

Ooh, ooh! Awesome! Yay! Look at the pretty Lambs. So pretty. Thanks so much. I needed this today, as I am feeling a bit blue. And these pics definitely put a smile on my face.

Damn, but why do I feel dirty looking at these pics? I think I know Michael too well now. Hee hee. ;)

    *adds to memories*

(Sorry to butt in, but I didn’t know you could freeze buttermilk!! I always end up buying a pint every few months I need it and wasting half of it :/ Cool — you learn something new every day… :)

Aww, I’m glad you liked it :)

I was going to actually make a lamb cake and then post a picture for you but then the stupid person on the plane got me sick so I didn’t get it done. That and it might have been a bit torturous to say, “Hey look at the cake I made you but, sorry!, you don’t get to have any.” ;)

You’re not butting in! Yep, you can freeze it. I have glass jars with screw on tops that I use to freeze it in since they work better than the cartons (obviously). I don’t generally freeze it for too long but, if you’re just going a few months in between uses, you should be good.
