If you watch The View then you probably already know about the Room-A-Day Giveaway sweepstakes they are co-sponsoring with the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Kimberly Clark knows that everyone time deserves a special room in their homes and wants to help you create it with their great brands. Not only have they teamed up with The View this year but they’ve also got celebrity designer Thom Filicia on board. In fact, just last week Thom appeared on the show and launched the sweepstakes in a special segment with Joy Behar, where he transformed the show’s outdated backstage area into a stylish and comfortable space for celebrity guests. Of course, the real question is… will the celebrity guests actually use that space?
Anyway, to help get the word out about this great sweepstakes opportunity, I’ve got a Room-A-Day Giveay Prize Pack to give away myself! One lucky winner will get a selection of several Kimberly Clark products (some of their trusted brands include Kleenex, Cottonelle and Huggies) PLUS a copy of Thom Filicia’s new book, Thom Filicia Style: Inspired Ideas for Creating Rooms You’ll Love!
To enter leave comment below before Wednesday, February 4th with the room in your house that you’d most like to give a makeover and why. On the 4th, I’ll use the entries to draw one winner at random. Eligiblity Note: This giveaway is limited to U.S. residents ONLY.
And don’t forget to enter the Room-A-Day Giveaway sweepstakes daily for your chance to be one of the 16 lucky winners! You can entre online at www.RoomADayGiveaway.com, www.abc.com or via the tear pads to be found in participating retail stores near you. The first 15 winners will be announced on The View at 11AM on ABC daily from February 2nd through February 15th. The 16th and final winner will be revealed on the Room-A-Day Giveaway website on or around March 13th.
In the meantime, here are some of Thom Filicia’s favorite design tip:
- Make Your Home Inviting: Put comfort first by selecting furnishings for their usability. Choose beautiful, comfortable dining chairs rather than delicate antiques, and opt for a nap-worthy sofa with plenty of pillows.
- Find Inspiration in Your Personal Belongings: When selecting a room’s color scheme, take cues from your own wardrobe and favorite personal objects.
- Design on a Dime: Forget high-end art galleries. A great way to stay on budget is to enlarge your favorite photo on a canvas or frame your children’s artwork to add some playful elements to a room.
- Brighten Up the Atmosphere: Well-placed pools of light create islands of warmth. Place votives in darkened corners or put a reading lamp with a soft light next to a super cushy sofa to help set the mood.
Check out Thom’s design blog for a behind the scenes look at The View makeover and to learn more about his personal design philosophy.

The room I would most like to redo is the livingroom/family room – for the exact reason that is meant to do both and currently feels like it does neither, at least not well. Right now it just feels blah and somewhat functional, but not homey or like us.
I’d most like to give our kitchen a makeover because it’s way too small, there aren’t enough cabinets, and hardly room to walk. Absolutely no space for larger appliances. *Thanks* for the giveaway!
I’d redo the living room since I both sleep and work there. A new futon would be super spiffy.
I would love to have a kitchen makeover. Being of Italian heritage that is where our family and friends usually end up. Not enough cabinets or counter space to prepare meals. This would be a dream come true.
I would love to redo our family room. When we moved in, we said we would and its been 6 years and nothing! The walls are very retro wall paper, the ceiling is damaged! Its very sad, because this is were we spent the majority of our time!
I would love to redo my living room, because I hate the way I have everything arranged. With the shape of the room and the location of the doors and all, it’s hard to figure out a good way to put the furniture.
I would love to makeover my bedroom. It’s not very stylish much less restful.
IIwant to makeover my family room so that the family has enough room to use our exercise equipment to stay fit, while we are all together watching TV.
A kitchen makeover would be fabulous. I know it’s on the low end of my priorities, so it’ll likely be a long time before it’s done. However, the cabinets are old and we don’t have an oven hood. It’d be nice to not have to smell the odors of dinner for days on end.
We desperately need to makeover our basement because it’s a cluttered mess/catch all!
We could use a kitchen makeover
I want to give my kitchen a makeover. The cabinets are much too dark, and the countertop is so very 1982. I want to take advantage of the great sun we get in there and use warm, Mediterranean colors to give it a cozy, Tuscan feel while making it convenient for coooking and baking.
My Kitchen, because it’s going to cost the most and take the most time. The house is only 11 years old, but it needs some major updating! Thanks!
ooops typo on the first post! I meant to say GREAT CONTEST! Thank you!
My kitchen is most in need of a makeover. No matter what kind of decorating tips I use, there is no hiding how dated the original plywood cupboards(circa 1960!) make the entire house appear, especially when it’s the first room you see when you enter.
The family room. It has a nice fireplace and nice big windows. In 5 years only used it once (for a party) and now it is just clutter. If it had some design to it we would probably use it as our family room.
My Bedroom! My boyfriend is moving in and I need to make it less girly!
My living room – I don’t even know where to begin!
My bedroom – I’m out of ideas!
My kitchen – I need some help pulling it all together.
I would redo my bedroom. It has no style! I would love to make it more romantic but also more modern. I have some very old mismatched furniture and it looks terrible. Thanks.
terustin@mindspring.com
Hmmm, I think I would choose the master bedroom….it needs more help than any other room in my home. Thank you.
Our kitchen which is where we spend a lot of time..
I’d redo our family room, since it’s the room we all spend the most time in. Thank you so much for offering this contest.
We moved from a house with an AMAZING kitchen. Lots of space, cupboards, and counterspace. We now have a much smaller kitchen, very few cupboards and counters and the counters are PINK (what were they thinking), the cupboards are very outdated oak and if anything would go with the pink its not these countertops. I would love bigger but if that were not possible at least more efficient.
Thanks.
the kitchen
I would make over my bedroom. It hasnt been changes for almost 24 years, except for curtains and the spread. I could so use a change and have no idea what to do or how to do it.
The room I would like to makeover is my bedroom. It is small with little or no closet space. This is a room I spend a lot of time in reading and meditating and would love to have it functional as a sitting/exercise/bedroom.
My kitchen needs to be gutted! Thanks for the contest.
I would love to be able to quickly redo my kitchen. I would love to remove one small wall and convert the family/dining/kitchen areas into one great room.
I’d love to redecorate my bedroom…so I can fall asleep extremely happy

I’d like to make over my bedroom to make it more comfortable and inviting.
livingroom- cleanup and declutter
definitely the bedroom
I have beautiful bedroom furniture, but that is all that is in the room. I don’t know how to accesories it. I have no curtains, pillows, pictures, etc.
bedroom
The kitchen as its tiny.
I’ld love to give our master bedroom a makeover. It,s very boring & has become a catch all for everything I don’t know where to put.
My bedroom needs a makeover. Everything is old, including the furniture.
I would like to give my den a makeover. Well, the couch is thirty years old. One of my lamps broke that was on the end table. I never could find a replacement. The coffee table is scratched and my rug is shabby. It could use a lift!
I’d re-do the computer room… It’s too pathetic to even describe.
I would love to redo my kitchen. It is a nice big kitchen, but the cabinets need replacing and the counter tops upgraded. We spend a lot of time in our kitchen and I would like to give it a warm, cozy update.
I’d love to give my living room a makeover because all the walls are white and so far I have no furniture in it so now is the time.
My big bathroom needs a make-over badly. The linoleum looks awful and has curled up around the edges all around the room.
My bedroom would be the makeover I would want. It seems guys don’t care what is in the bedroom, because that is only where they sleep. And yes, our room is simple and plain. Boring. Well, I would love to have a romantic country bedroom that would inspire my husband to do just more than sleep.
My kitchen. The house was built 40 years ago and really needs a face-lift.
I’d like to redo my living room but not sure what to do with it!
I’d like to redo my kitchen. It has taken its’ share of abuse from the three kids.
I would love to give my living room a make-over. Because we have missed matched furniture a TV that doesn’t fit in the entertainment center so it sits on top. Really tacky.
angelacisco at rocketmail.com
our basement needs everything
Definitely living room, the kids are older teens now but we still have the ratty, abused furniture from their childhoods. We haven’t painted in forever and there are still stains on the carpet from the dog we haven’t had in 5 years.
I would redo our living room. Because it is so uninviting we don’t even spend time in it. Thanks….
I would love to redo my kitchen. I have tons of floor space but no cabinents. The walls are plain old white and everything was put in on the wrong side. I think a leftie would feel comfortable there but for a rightie it is a disaster waiting to happen every day(and has happened on more than one occassion).
My bedroom needs a makeover so bad! It has been totally neglected-I don’t even have a picture on the wall!
smchester at gmail dot com
i could use this.
We recently bought an old house and I have to update the kitchen. Not only is it poorly designed, it’s painted pink with pink and blue wallpaper.
Second bedroom could use some attention. Just thankful i even have a second bedroom though.
Thanks for the contest. Best wishes for a happy & prosperous 2009!
I would love to makeover my bathroom…It has old tile from the 80′s in it…ewww.
My big spare bedroom, because my oldest daughter moved out of it and now I need to fix it up for two small boys.
My kitchen. It needs it bad. We have lived here 20 years and the only thing we have done to it is put in new windows.
I’d like to re-do my kitchen. It was done in the 70′s and is a horrible yellow color!
Our living room is hard to figure furniture placement for, which is why this room would be the primary one for which I’d like help.
I would re-do our bedroom. It has no changed in 20 years
My living room for sure. We have couches that we got from a friend years ago. an end table that I got from my mom. No curtains. and a futon that doubles for a couch…we also have a tiny tv and table that it is on is totally scratched…need a makeover BAD
thanks
Would love to re-do the bathroom – all the fixtures, plumbing, and electrical is outdated. Thank you for this great contest and prize. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
My mom’s bedroom. It use to be a den and is in need of painting ceiling and walls (ill fitting paneling) are half painted and peeling and part of her floor is the plywood the other part a rug over 30 years old. Part of the woodwork is missing and her closet if you can call it that barely fits a hanger sideways. There is a rod sticking from her ceiling which I think use to have a light or fan connected to it. Anything done to this room would be a vast improvement. But paint and a rug would help keep it warm and make her feel alot better about things.
I would love to makeover my office. Ugly carpet and paint in there. Thanks!
our bedroom could use some help. we painted it colors we really loved but now it just looks like a big Reese Cup!
I would love a make over of our home office. We spend the most time in that room and would like it to have a bit more style, as opposed to the mountains of To Do’s!
Our office is so crowded I can’t even walk through it!
kitchen
My bathroom needs a makeover because some of the tiles are starting to fall out.
My family room needs a makeover, my kids have trashed it since they were born!
My office needs some TLC
I would like a kitchen makeover.
I have a lot of small appliances that seem to be falling over each other.
I have a huge picture window.I was wondering if about making it smaller. To add some extra counter space.
I keep my pots in drawers.
I was thinking of a pot rack and light surface combine.
This way I could use the drawer for other things.
I would also need new counter surface.
Help me!!!!!!
I would most like to give our kitchen a makeover because it is literaly falling apart. When it was built some 28 years ago, the builders used the cheepest stock cabinet they could find. Even though the cabinet fronts are solid wood, the rest of the drawers shelves, sides of the cabinets are all particle board. No dove tailing in these babies, just stapled together. Our range is 28 years old and baking is a challenge as things cook unevenly. The countertops are wood. Who uses wood as a countertops? These are not even butcher block. It’s in need of a major renovation. Ahhh some day.
My living room needs to be updated. Everything is old and outdated, but I do still love it and I’m thankful for what I have.
We’re planning on building a new house, and I would focus mostly on the kitchen; because this is where friends and family come together.
My kitchen could use a makeover
I would love to makeover our bathroom. We recently had a flood and had to tear everything out including the walls etc. So This room has been put on the backlist of things to fix and would some walls in there. Thank you
tatertot374@sbcglobal.net
I would like to redo my main bathroom it is so outdated and needs new everything.
I’d love to makeover my living room because it is so bare.
My family room..it’s a hodge-podge of pieces we’ve picked up or someone in the family gave us over the years (although I refused to hang the velvet indian painting my former mother-in-law bought me at a garage sale).
I’d like to redo my garage/studio. I sew and make jewelry in there, it is very disorganized.
My bedroom, it is cluttered and not very restful.
my basement I use it for my craft room and it is cold dark and dreary
The room i’d like to redo would be my living room, it is such a mish mash of different styles and items that nothing matches and its all hand me downs.
Id love to redo my livingroom, it is such a mish/mosh of different handmedowns, that a new look that matches would be great.. Especially to come into the 2000′s..
I would redo my bedroom. I own a very old house with the smallest closet you can imagine. I have containers in my bedroom full of clothes. I really need a bigger closet.
Our living room has carpet from the 1960s and paneling, but I’d like even more to remodel the kitchen. Vinyl floring, cabnets from the 1950s, and an UGLY 1970s light fixture. Oh, and paneling.
I would love to redo our family room. Presently, we have blah, white walls and neutral furnishings.
I’d love to re-do my living room
My bathroom needs a makeover, its small but with a little decorating it could be useable.
The kitchen I need a new stove and dishwasher and the cupboards are old!!!

I need so many rooms remodeled that I hardly know which one to say.I guess the kitchen would be my most needed. The cabinets are awful not to mention the floors.
My garage needs rearranged to provide storage and look neat
My dining room needs serious help. I have a great table, but the chairs don’t match, the walls have giant plaster holes in them and the former owners tried to put on a fake stucco look and it is hideous. Also my carpet is disgusting can’t get it clean no matter how much I scrub it and my front door opens into the dining room with no entry way.

I would love to makeover our family room which is the main room of our house that we all congregate together in most of the time! This room desperately needs a major makeover because it is not comfortable for all the functions that it has going on in it. We have 3 young children, 2 dogs and my husband and I have lots of hobbies and this is the room where we do most everything! It served as our TV room, our home office, and where the kids play and it is always a disorganized mess! It needs to be redesigned so each part of the room serves a unique purpose and it is layed out so we all can enjoy our passions comfortably and effectively. The room is large and this can be done with some professional help and some inspiration! Thank you for the opportunity to enter.
the livingroom it needs it most its the first room I see when I get home I would like it to be a little more cozy!!! thanks
Our den is such a mishmash! Or, Mix-match? It seems to be the catchall for whatever has no place to belong, and the furniture is mismatched, also. There is no cohesiveness to the room! It has several color schemes at once. To make things worse, it has painted-over paneling on the walls and a hideous dropped ceiling. Help me Thom!
My bedroom needs a makeover because it has one wall where we took out a door that neeeds to be textured and painted (we left the drapes over it to cover it up) and the room also needs color!
My living room is my favorite room so I would like to make it even better… It is real comfortable now but could always use more and new updates.
I would like to do my dining area and finish up my living room. The living room/dining room needs window treatments and I need dining room furniture. I am stuck on how to finish it.

Our upstairs bathroom. We did a quick fix when we bought our house in 1995 and have never been able to afford the big plunge to do it correctly.

kamlchap(at)gmail(dot)com
I would do my living room
I’d choose my living room. We spend most of our time there, so everyone would enjoy a re-do. Our hand-me-down furniture in there just isn’t working. I’d also like to paint the walls something brighter than just brown. I want to make my home something the kids will remember (fondly) when they grow up.

Thanks for the contest.
superdavefive(at)yahoo(dot)com
My bedroom; I would like to make it more cozy!
Oh, it’s a toss up between the living room and the master bedroom.
my bedroom
I would like to make over my kitchen the most….by 1st redoing the cabinets!
Our bathroom is horrible. The house was “country” and we aren’t! And did you know that toothpaste (when applied by children) eats through the finish on oak countertops?
I would love to see my daughters bathrooms remodel. She lives in a older house which is in desperate need of repairs. One of the bathrooms tub is unusably and the toilet is unstable and leaks, the other one has mold and mildew and it’s toilet leaks too they both need new floors. Her hold house needs a make over but if anything the bathrooms need it the most.

madamerkf at aol dot com
I dream of being able to do something, anything with the family room of our house. The problem stems from the 7 adults living in the house along with 5 dogs, 6 cats, 10 ferrets, 8 rats, and one mouse, and we live off the beaten path.
I would want to makeover my bathroom becasue it is so old and need to change several broken things in the bathroom.
My kitchen because the sink and the dishwasher are over 20 years old.
Hoe do I pick one room?! Probably my bedroom, I’ve lived here for 10 years and the walls are still not painted, the rugs have stains all over from my dogs and dirt and my furniture is mine from when I was a child and I’m almost 35!! And it’s not antique, it’s cheap and in bad shape!! Ok, I could go on and on now!!!! Sorry.
I’d love to give my bedroom a makeover because I spend so much time in there and it is just kind of blah.
I would like our “bonus” room to get a major overhaul. Right now, I don’t even like to go in there.
My choice would be our master bathroom. When it was done they had white ceramic tiles put in with a greenish type grout. It looks like a bathroom at an airport or a gas station. It is horrible looking & I would rip it out myself if I could!
My bedroom could seriously use a makeover. I would love for it to be a sanctuary of peace and quiet. I wish it was soothing, but it is so chaotic now with so many things in it that belong elsewhere. I would like for it to be a restful place. No computer or office work and I want the TV to be hidden.
I would like to give my home office a makeover. I don’t have enough shelf space so what I have is cluttered.
I need my bathroom makeover because the shower pan leaks and has unsafe glass for the shower. So help me stop the damage.
I would love to do over our spare room into a play room for our grandchildren. I’d like to have a safe place for them to play and have a lot of storage. Also to inspire their creativity.
My bedroom – its looking a bit sad.
I would like to redo my guest room. It’s very vintagey, and my taste is more modern now. Thanks!

Thanks for a great giveaway!!
id love to give my bedroom a makeover the wallpaper is peeling and my bedding sets look kinda frumpy
The room in most need of a makeover is our living room. It still has the awful flat eggshell paint on it from when we moved in many years ago…now thats combined with pencila and crayon marks (which dont come off because it’s flat paint). The blinds are all bent up from 2 naughty toddlers and the oriental rug is 10 yrs old and hideous. I could go on and on and on….
I would love to redo my bedroom. It is the last room in my home that ever gets anything new and usually the first place clutter is put.
I would love to redo my kitchen.
Every room in my home needs a makeover, but I would really love to do my bathrooms! Thanks!
I would like to makeover the second bedroom upstairs. It hassn’t been designed. It looks lifeless. It seves as a place for any and everything that There isn’t a place for anywhere else.
the bathroom because it needs new tile on the floor, the paint is peeling in places on the walls, the tub leaks, the toilet runs and beause it has no shower. need I say more?
I have a home built in 1959. I have two bathrooms showing their age. Both have original fixtures and ugly tile on the floor and walls and it all matches! I could use a makeover for sure!
I’d love to redo my daughter’s room. It’s been the same way for 8 years and she definately needs a change. She’s 11 going on 18 and needs it to be more “grown up”!
The bathroom because it’s old.
Our dining room. There is just a table and chairs. White builder’s paint still on the wall, no pictures, no decorations, no window treatments. Thanks.
The room that I would like mostly to makeover – would be our main floor bathroom. The ceiling is falling – too much moisture; the floor is cracking and breaking up – too much moisture/traffic and too old; the bathtub and toilet and sink are in various shades of blue and green. The accents are 1970s black. Thanks for this giveaway.
Probably the family room because it is the most used and run down currently.

We could use a kitchen makeover:)ty 4 the awesome giveaway and entry:)
This old house had old heating. My living room once had a woodburning stove in it. The stove was gone but until recently the stove piping remained up and out through the roof. The living room has empty space to fill. I sometimes want the old wood burner back.
I would love to have a kitchen makeover. Ours hasn’t been updated since 1967. Think it might be time??? Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway!
The room I would most like to give a makeover to is my bedroom because it’s so messy!
I am a single mom and currently sleep on a twin bed in the nursery with my daughter. She has her own toddler bed and her room looks quite nice. My bedroom, however, is a nightmare-which is why I sleep in her room. It is my home office/storage space/bedroom. I need a room makeover so my room is comfy and can store all my stuff. This would be ideal so my daughter and I can each have our own rooms that are both nice and comfortable!
